Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs We Admire
At Chrysmela, we believe in freedom. Our brand’s motto says it all - fashion freedom, freedom to go and be anywhere in the world, and freedom to live life on your terms.
Women are doing amazing things every day. They are pursuing successful careers, creating incredible products, and making valuable contributions as mentors and role models. As if that wasn’t enough, they are doing it all while being there for their families, travelling all over the globe, and making it all look effortless as they radiate confidence and beauty.
In honor of International Women’s Day earlier in March (after all, we deserve a whole month :) don’t we?), we have been chatting with strong and beautiful female entrepreneurs who we admire. They have shared with us their inspiring stories, amazing accomplishments, and their beauty secrets and travel hacks that keep them looking so radiant even while they’re on the go. Looking and feeling good gives us extra energy and confidence to make our dreams come true. Let’s learn the secrets of these remarkable women as they reveal how they always look so fabulous.

As an experienced entrepreneur, I have co-founded two startups including LOVE GOODLY, with Katie Bogue Miller, a fast-growing cruelty-free beauty and wellness subscription box, backed by leading Los Angeles angel investor Allen DeBevoise and Quake Capital, and LovingEco, an eco fashion/beauty flash sales co-founded with Melinda Moore that was acquired a year after launch by a company backed by John Paul DeJoria.
With over 17 years of marketing experience, I was the VP Marketing at FirstLook, an idealab!, Kleiner Perkins backed startup as well as Director of Marketing at Virgin Interactive and MGM Interactive. Pro tips from Justine Lassoff
Beautiful Women On The Go - how do they always look so fabulous?
1. Get ready
What is your morning routine? What do you do to add the “finishing touch" before you head out of the door?
During weekdays, it's all about getting ready quickly. I make my coffee, answer any urgent emails, wake up my son, make sure he's up, and then walk our rescue dog Snoopy. I usually try to sneak in either tennis with friends (doubles two days a week and a girl friend I play singles with at the ocean) after drop off, or a workout at the gym. If I do not have any business meetings, as I often work from home, I run out the door and just make sure I have my tennis or workout gear on, a reusable water bottle, my ear pods and iPhone.
2. Beauty emergency tips
What is your beauty emergency tip? Puffy eyes? Didn’t get enough sleep?
My emergency beauty tip is to do it all, the works. I take a quick shower and wash my hair then use cold water as the rinse. Use a very cold wash cloth, a face scrub and retinol moisturizer - I love MyChelle - to wake me up. Then take the time to use the best non-toxic and cruelty-free beauty products, including a light foundation, mascara, a blush stick, illuminator, and bronze powder - the illuminator shine just above your cheekbones fixes tired eyes!
3. New beauty hack 2020
Are you trying anything new that you are excited about?
Now that I am in my 50's, a breast cancer survivor, and having gone through menopause, it's even more important to be healthy, especially with what I eat. I follow a plant based lifestyle, minimizing processed foods and maximizing veggies, fruit and nuts. I recommend checking out the movie and website ‘Forks Over Knives’ and the documentary ‘Game Changers.’ Additionally, for me, supplements help so I take Vitamin D, Calcium, and Garden of Life MyKind Organic Plant Collagen Builder.
4. Travel bucket list 2020
Where are you going? Where do you want to go this year?
I know it's not adventurous but I plan to go to see my sister and family at our annual vacation to stay at a lake house in Brevard in North Carolina this summer, and visit my mom in Scottsdale where we enjoy hiking together and visiting. I also love Palm Springs - it's an easy drive from Los Angeles, and I play tennis at the Palm Springs Tennis Club. Since I grew up in Europe, and studied in Paris, I can appreciate that I live in the wonderful city of Los Angeles.
5. Packing list
What are your travel beauty essentials?
You and Oil, Doctor Rogers, Axiology lipstick, Mychelle scrub and retinol moisturizer, and Hurraw! lip balm. I also love Illia and Lawless Beauty, non-toxic, vegan and cruelty-free beauty lines.
6. In-flight beauty tips
What do you do before take-off, during the flight and pre-landing?
Have a glass of champagne on take off, drink water during the flight, and use my favorite face serum You and Oil and hand moisturizer Doctor Rogers during the flight. Upon landing, I touch up using my Axiology lipstick.
7. Jewelry On-the-Go
What’s in your travel jewelry case?
My diamond earrings that my husband gave me, and several pieces from (my company) Love Goodly including my The Giving Keys necklace. Of course, I can’t forget my Chrysmela Catch earring backs to keep my earrings safe and sound.
8. Your Favorite Gift
What’s the best jewelry gift you’ve ever received?
The art deco sapphire and diamond tennis bracelet my husband gave me!
